Cat Among the Pigeons by Julia Golding
Cat Among the Pigeons is the sequel to a book that I have read previously, The Diamond of Drury Lane. Set in 1700s London, its main character is Cat, an orphan who lives in a theater on Drury Lane. All of the characters are the same as in the first book, and they are both written in Cat's witty and humorous voice. Cat among the Pigeons is about Cat's friend Pedro. Pedro was once a slave, and his old master, who technically still has control over him decides that he wants his slave back. Cat and all of Pedro's friends, of course, do not want Pedro to have to go back to his old master, because they know how badly he was treated before. This book was a very good read about friendship and perseverance and I would definitely recommend it.
