Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
Wintergirls is about a young girl named Lia, who struggles with an eating disorder. Although she has been through treatment and is believed to be doing well, she isn't. Lia doesn't eat as much as she should and she tricks her family into thinking that everything is alright. When she goes too far, and ends up in the hospital once again she realizes that she doesn't want this anymore, and finally realizes that she needs to get better - for real this time.
This book was really good, and while it was somewhat difficult to read at some times due to the struggles that Lia faced, it was enjoyable. It let you see into the mind of someone who's anorexic and showed how it really is a disease, not something that they chose. The characters were strong and it was easy to relate to them, which made you want Lia to get better the whole time. The ending was also really good, because while it didn't give you an answer to everything, it closed it up.
