Stick by Andrew Smith

This story follows Stick and his brother Bosten. They live with their abusive parents and Stick has a deformity that has left him deaf in one ear. It sometimes traps thoughts in his brain and tumbles them. When Bosten runs away Stick must go find him on a journey with many ups and downs.

I really liked this book and would recommend it to those who like realistic fiction. The characters are well developed and the story was unique and really well-written. This book is PG-13 for language and mild sexual context.
