Guitar Boy by Mary Jane Auch

Guitar Boy is about a 14 year old boy who really loves to play guitar. He always plays on his mothers really old guitar that has been in the family for hundreds of years. One night Travis' mom goes out for work in a really bad rainstorm and her truck flips over on the highway and Travis' family crumbles apart. His father loses his job and forces Travis' older sister, June, to drop out of high school to take care of the three younger siblings. Travis is then forced to drop out to get a job. Travis quits the job and then he and his father get into a terrible fight. Travis gets kicked out of the house, which leads him on a wild adventrue looking for a man named Scot McKissack, a guitar repairman and builder a few towns over. He gets a job there and finds a home with one of Scot's friends.

I thought Guitar Boy was a good book with a valuable lesson for all. Mary Jane Auch has a new and creative style that almost anyone can relate to. I think that this book would be great for all ages. It's just on of those books that you just can't put down until the last page is read.
