Soldier Dog by Sam Angus
Soldier Dog is a story that takes place during World War I with Stanley. Stanley's brother goes to war and his dog has puppies. Stanley wants to keep one, so his explosive father says he drowned it. So Stanley, only 14, runs away to the army where he becomes a messenger dog trainer. This is where he meets a dog named Pistol.
I liked this book. It is full of adventure and it is full of dogs too! I liked the setting and the time period of the book. There weren't any boring parts. I think other kids will like it as well.
