Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Septys
Between Shades of Gray was a touching story with both a deep message and memorable point of view. The story was about a time in Lithuanian history and a girl, Lina, and her family being taken to camps where they were treated badly. Traveling on carts for months before reaching the camps she meets many people, making friends and enemies. Throughout the story Lina showed a strong artistic point of view. The story is so raw and realistic it will capture the reader and leave them breathless as it did me. With stunning descriptions and a realism captured through the book I found myself buried in the CDs, unable to stop. As much as I enjoyed the story I would only offer it to an older and more mature group because of the gory parts through the story. The voice of the narrator through the story was perfect and seemed to capture the character's true personality which made the story only that much more enjoyable.
