Don't Feed the Boy by Irene Latham
A boy is born a single child to a couple of zookeepers that seem to care more about the animals than the boy, Whit. Whit has noticed a girl drawing the birds. Whit has a chance to make a friend! But he will have to break the rules! An amazing story of Whit and the Bird Girl filled with adventure and mystery.
I loved the details and excitement in this book. There are so many interesting facts. I think this book is better than most and will appeal to some younger teens. I would recommend this book to a friend.

Whit's parents rarely bring him out of the zoo where he lives. But when he meets a girl named Stella, who has problems with her father, he learns what real friendship is like. Whit has to deal with the death of a zoo animal and his new friendship is put to the test.
I would recommend this book to younger readers. The most compelling part was the death of a zoo animal. It was well written and had nice drawings throughout the book.
