What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen
Sarah Dessen's What Happened to Goodbye is an amazing story that seems to fit the mind of a teenager perfectly. With her small touches of detail and thoughts of the teenage mind I found it very entertaining and a fabulous book. I would want pre-teens and teens to read this book. I listened to the audiobook. The reader projected the story perfectly with emotion and a realistic voice that seemed to add to the story line.
It's a story of a girl, McLean, who moves from place to place with her dad and recreates herself at each place. But when she moves this time she stays herself. Through the book she struggles with her mother's persistent calling, still angry over the brutal divorce her mother and father had gone through when her mother cheated on her dad. Meanwhile, McLean is becoming close to a boy, Dave, who seems to somehow be connected to her no matter what and somehow has a way of connecting to her in an odd way.
What Happened to Goodbye is a book of choices, love and mistakes all stringed together. This book was amazing and unforgettable, which I enjoyed very much.
