Will Grayson, Will Grayson by David Levithan and John Green

While a bit confusing at first, I enjoyed the book. This is a humorous tale about two different Will Graysons who happen to meet one night. Their lives, of course, cross paths again and become intertwined leading to romance and a fabulous school musical.

Some sexual content, language, and talk of sexuality.

-------------

This book is about two teenagers with the same name but very different lives and how, when their paths cross, they change each others lives.

I loved this book. I enjoy when chapters switch from one point of view to another. The voices of teenagers can be a wide variety of things; funny, serious, ridiculous and mind bending. I specifically remember laughing out loud at some of the parts. The topics of love (both gay and straight), friendships, and just life in general were handled well for teenagers to connect to and understand.

Peace. Locomotion by Jacqueline Woodson

Peace, Locomotion was a very interesting book. The book is written like a letter. Lonie is writing to his sister about everything he did that day. It may not sound interesting but when you think about what this kid is thinking it's really amazing. His foster brother lost his leg in a war but they still became close when he let his hard shell fall. It's humbling to read this book and see how much of a difference there is between this city kid's life and mine. He isn't allowed much time to watch TV when we watch it too much. I don't really know when this book was set in time but it just seems so sweet.

Cookie by Jacqueline Wilson

This is a good story about a girl going through problems at school. It gives a story through the eyes of Beauty, who hates her name because she thinks she isn't at all. The ending is happy and sad at the same time. It's a great literary work.

Cat o' Nine Tails by Julia Golding

I believe that this is a great story. Without reading the other books in the series I was able to grasp the concept of the story. There were many plot twists, like when Cat becomes part of an Indian tribe. The ending is unpredictable and is hard to guess.

Cat is spending time with her friend Tom at his winter home when she gets a letter saying that her old time friend has disappeared. While looking for him Cat, Tom and Pedro are captured and are put on a ship going to the New World. The three are threatened, but when they touch land Cat gets away. Befriended by Native Americans she then makes her way to Pennsylvania to uncover the man who set the plan up, Tom's cousin.

It was a very well written book and, even though I have not read the first books, I could still understand what who characters were and what was happening in the beginning. It was a very interesting historical fiction book. I even liked it and I'm not really into historical fiction.

Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine

Mockingbird is a sweet, sad, and happy story at the same time. The main character, Caitlin, has Asperger's Syndrome and she has just lost her brother. Devon was killed in a school shooting and her and her father struggle to find closure throughout the whole story for themselves and the rest of the community. Caitlin discovers an entire new world throughout this emotional journey. This book is a wonderfully retold story about an actual shooting that happened in the author's backyard. 5 stars. Must read.
